Princess Coloring Pages

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Do you have a little princess at your house? If you do, then princess coloring pages are a fun activity that she will certainly enjoy, and that can keep her busy for hours. Princess coloring pages are a great way to let her express her creative side on something other than your walls! She will love the activity, and you will love the free time.

One of the best things you can do is put together a coloring book of printable princess coloring pages. You can create a coloring book with one image of each of the Disney princesses, or one of each of the Barbie princesses, or a look at various princesses. You can create one coloring book of the same princess. Choose their favorite princess and print out all of the coloring pages of that princess you can find. This means if it is Ariel, you can print ones of her as a mermaid, as well as when she has legs. You can print them of her in a day dress as well as a gown. The idea is to get some diversity in the pages so that they can have fun coloring all of their favorite poses and scenes.

A good way to help your princess enjoy her princess coloring pages more is to have her color them right after she watches the movie they correspond with, or while she watches. If you need a few hours to yourself, then print out a few coloring pages of your little one’s favorite princess, and then sit them down to color while they watch their princess in action. They will love coloring the princess and putting their own spin on the colors and looks of the princess they get to color. In addition, they will be more excited for the scene that they are coloring to come up on the screen. They will be so excited to see it that they will probably sit still and watch the movie through.

So, now that you know what to do with your princess coloring pages, and have a good idea of why you want them, let’s take a look at where to get them. The best place to find princess coloring pages is online. You don’t have to go to the store to buy a coloring book, you can easily print off all of your favorite princesses right from home. A simple google search will turn up several different sites that offer princess coloring pages from your traditional Disney princesses to the general depiction of a princess.

Internet Games for Kids

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Having a young nephew has taught me that toddlers like online activities. In fact, I was very surprised at how young he was when he became Internet savvy. The mouse didn’t intimidate him at all. His comfort with searching online was eventually accompanied by a real thirst to explore the online world.

His mother bookmarked all his favorites, so I went onto the sites and tried them myself. I enjoy them almost as much as my nephew does! You might find that your children like them too.

Please note that some of the games and activities on some of the sites (or those linked from them) are for older children but plenty of them are perfect for toddlers.

Nick Games (http://www.nick.com/games/)
Nickolodeon brings cartoons to life on their game site. Their many offerings include games starring the penguins from Madagascar, SpongeBob Squarepants, Otis from Back at the Barnyard and Jimmy Neutron. There are also plenty of activities that appeal to kids of all ages.

Disney Preschool (http://home.disney.go.com/foryou/preschool/)
As could be expected, Disney offers a web channel for pre-schoolers, which is chock full of fun videos and music. They also offer activities, such as The Great Sky Race, Pop-up Assignments and Rhythms in the Warehouse. Kids can also enter the “worlds” of a variety of Disney characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Imagination Movers, Little Einsteins (or “Iddle Dine-dines” as my nephew calls them) and many others your child will recognize.

HubPages (http://hubpages.com/_coloringpages/)
HubPages is a communal bloggin site that offers all kinds of information and resources, including kids activities. There are free flower coloring pages for kids, free Halloween crafts, and Christmas kids activities, as well as many others. You can either click the links in this article or search the HubPages site for other coloring pages and activities.

Coloring.com (home page: http://www.coloring.com/, categorized index page: http://www.coloring.com/pictures/choose.cdc)
This site is actually relatively low tech, making it simple to navigate. It has a large selection of coloring pages accessible by those who can read the categories. These can be accessed by going to the “categorized index page” URL shown above. The home page has picture navigation, though, so your child may be able to navigate it alone.

May your children have many happy hours playing on these sites!

I learned from having a young nephew that toddlers aren’t shy about going online and playing games. In fact, I was very surprised at how young he was when he became Internet savvy. Nick Games (http://www.nick.com/games/)
Nickolodeon has established a great games site based on their cartoons. Their many offerings include The Pollution Solution game, starring The Penguins of Madagascar, Race to the Goo Lagoon and nine other games starring SpongeBob Squarepants, Otis’ Chopper Challenge game from Back at the Barnyard and the Space Blast game from Jimmy Neutron. There are also plenty of activities that appeal to kids of all ages.

Disney Preschool (http://home.disney.go.com/foryou/preschool/)
As could be expected, Disney offers a web channel for pre-schoolers, which is filled with fun videos to watch and music to listen to. They also have plenty of games, such as The Great Sky Race, Inspector Ooh and Rhythms in the Warehouse. Children can also enter the “worlds” (AKA Web sites) of Disney characters, such as Tinkerbell, Winnie the Pooh, Disney Princess, Little Einsteins (or “Iddle Dine-dines” as my nephew calls them) and many other kid favorites.

Experience An All New World Of Creativity When Creating A Coloring Page

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Remember back in time when using your crayons on a coloring page meant sitting in front of your TV and opening up your coloring book? You would rip out the pages when you were done and hang them up on the refrigerator or your walls. Perhaps many children these days still use coloring books. Nowadays, coloring has a whole new look to it. That new look is the Internet.

The Internet offers so many different fun things for children to do. One of those things is offering a website where children can create an assortment of fun filled coloring pages be it a clown, flowers, rainbows or their favorite Walt Disney character.

There are a few options for your kids when they use the Internet to create a coloring page. These options will keep your kids busy allowing them to use their creative imagination and indulge in a world of pre-reading fun.

1. Some websites will provide basic children’s coloring pages that you can print out and have your child coloring in with their favorite crayons, colored pencils or markers. Usually there are many different patterns or pictures for your child to choose from.

2. Other websites allow your children to color right on the computer itself. This does not mean scribbling all over your monitor. The websites actually offer interactive pages where your child uses the computer to fill in images with color by the click of a button or mouse.

3. Other sites not only offer a coloring page or two for your child to print and decorate, but allow an entire coloring book to be printed out. With only a few minutes of printing time, you can print out several coloring pages for your child that will entertain them for hours.

The Internet has come a long way with things for your little ones to do to keep them constructive and allow their imaginations to flow. From trains to cars or animals to balloons, there are countless things for your child to print and color. Not only is Internet coloring fun for your child, but it helps with the development of hand-eye coordination as well as other important skills such as decision making, persistence, and creativity. What a fun way to stimulate their minds.

Instead of putting a coloring book and crayons in front of your child, how about putting them in front of the computer to print out their own coloring page and fill it up with lots of colors and love. They can then hang their colorful creation on the fridge so everyone can enjoy their work.
