How does the Jenny Craig diet work? First fo all the program has a very simple meal structure. You will eat a combination of frozen and canned / shelf stable pre packaged foods.Initially you will usually buy your food through the JC program to ensure the proper balance of foods and portion sizes. In time you will do your own shopping from normal supermarkets and grocery stores - as soon as you have the knowledge of food types, portion sizes and nutritional content.

There are several different different menus. If you have specific requirements such as no red meat, you are a vegetarian, or you are vegan it doesn't matter on the Jenny Craig.

You also participate in personalized one on one counselling. Here you will get individual advice on the best foods for you to eat and also further advice on building an entire healthy lifestyle. This compliments the fill in workbooks that you complete every week on your progress, the motivational audio program, and regular “behavior modification” group classes.

Portion control is key to the diet. Eating the right amount of food is crucial so you are taught about the correct sized portions and taught to weigh, measure, and prepare your food healthily.

The behavior modification classes will teach you how to make healthy meals. You will slowly come off the program given foods and start to shop for yourself - shopping healthily of course :).

However, this might sound fantastic by the JC Diet does lack in the fitness / exercise areas. Although exercise is encouraged detailed plans are not designed for you as they are with the food.
