Phone Systems 101

Businesses can’t do without phone systems. That is a given fact and not a subject for debate. As such, it is every conglomerate’s priority to secure for themselves the finest phone system. Different companies have different intentions and hope to use phone systems for a number of different things. So it is best that before they engage in buying, they first get to know what phone systems are available for their respective business.
• VoIP. This pertains to the delivery of voice messages through the internet instead of standard public networks. Most businesses have adopted this kind of system because of its cost-saving characteristic and excellent bandwidth coverage. Through VoIP, companies place calls, send fax and voice with fewer costs and send emails and hold web conferences, without the need of a desktop; something traditional phones don’t offer. Aside from this, they are also pretty flexible, allowing you to call more than one phone at a time, using only one line.
• PBX. Private Branch Exchange connects internal phone lines in a business but also allows it to place calls to external contacts. With its integrative capability, PBX or also known as PABX (Private Automatic Branch Exchange) systems lessens the complication of contact transitions. This phone system is also able to perform call forwarding, extension dialing and hunt groups. It also makes use of the internet so it is vulnerable to the same problems as VoIPs.
• Key Telephone Systems. These are frequently seen in medium sized businesses and its main characteristic is that it gives phone users a direct connection to the phone lines available. It’s cost effective considering you don’t have to install multiple lines to use multiple phones but it is not as flexible as other systems.~These have been used for some time already in medium seized businesses, and it allows instant key set links to different phone lines. It’s better than traditional systems. However, it does not have that much features to compare with the VoIP or PBX.
• Hybrid Systems. These combine the features of Key Phone Systems and PBX systems.~These are great for SOHOs and small businesses for it gives users the convenience of Key Phone and PBX systems.
